Fluorouracil cream is recommended for adult patients in order to treat the skin conditions on the face and front part of the scalp addressed as actinic keratosis or solar keratosis.

Dosage

Fluorouracil topical cream should be applied once in a day to the skin where the actinic keratosis lesions appear, using enough in order to cover the affected area with a thin film. Apply the cream 10 minutes after thoroughly washing, rinsing, and drying the entire area.

This cream may be applied using the fingertips up to 4 weeks as tolerated.

Ordinarily, the topical over dosage will not cause acute problems. If fluorouracil cream by mistake ingested, induce emesis and gastric lavage. Symptomatic and supportive care should be administered as required.

redness
dryness
burning
local pain
erosion
swelling

Warnings and Precautions:

The fluorouracil cream should not be applied near the eyes, nostrils or mouth.
Avoid covering the treated skin with a dressing.
Wash your hands as soon as you finish putting the efudix cream on your skin.
In case the contact is made with the eye, flush with copious amounts of water.
The fluorouracil topical cream should not be used in children.
There is a possibility of increased absorption through the ulcerated or inflamed skin.
This topical cream should be avoided to use for any kind of disorder other than that for which it is prescribed.
The cream is for external use only, avoid contact with the eyes, eyelids, nostrils, and mouth.
Cleanse the affected area and wait for ten minutes prior to applying the cream.
In patients with this cream, irritation may continue for 2 or more weeks after treatment is over.
The treated area may become unsightly during the therapy
